Secondary Glazing FAQ’s

Does Secondary Glazing actually work?

Secondary glazing is an excellent, cost effective way of reducing the amount of external noise entering your home through your current windows. This simple and cost-effective treatment can increase sound insulation. This means your home will be quieter and you will sleep more peacefully. In other words, yes, it does work! Secondary glazing is also extremely effective for thermal retention and draught exclusion.

Does Secondary Glazing add value to my house?

Secondary glazing can greatly increase your home's value. If your home is older and not performing well, it may be worth considering investing in new glazing options. This will increase its appeal to potential buyers as well as allow it to sell at a higher price. Selling a property that is quiet and warm adds to the appeal.

If my Secondary Glazing breaks, who can fix it?

The Glazier who installed your secondary glazing should have a well-documented warranty on their work. Meaning they should be able to fix it for you. We here at City Sound proud ourselves on our craftmanship as well as the quality of our products, if any problems arise, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Secondary Glazing for Listed Buildings Soho

A building listed under the law is protected and Listed Building Permission may need to be obtained before any modifications can be made. Not all repairs will require consent. Please get in touch with your local authority and make enquiries as to whether you need permission to install secondary glazing.

Sash Windows (Vertical sliding) Soho

Sash windows, also known as “Vertical sliding windows”, are the most popular window type. Secondary glazing sash windows are also very popular.

Our sash windows consist of two panels, one at the top and one at the bottom. They are counter balanced with pre-tensioned springs that hold the panels’ weight. The window can be opened in any direction and the panels can be operated easily.

Horizontal Sliding Windows Soho

Horizontal sliding windows, which can be made side to side, are the most versatile style. They can be manufactured with either 2, 3, or 4 sliding panels. This type of secondary glazing matches perfectly with Crittal windows. Individual sliding panels can slide effortlessly, providing unimpeded access to external windows.

All of our windows sections are made from aluminium and powder-coated white. You can customize frames to match your decor with a different colour or finish.

Fixed Lift Out Soho

Fixed lift out windows are an alternative to screw-fixed units. They have a removable glass panel that can be lifted from the master frame and accessed through the external windows.

This type of window is used for external windows that are rarely used, or in offices with air conditioning where cleaning between windows is necessary.

Casement (Hinged) Secondary Glazing Soho

Our hinged (casement) windows can be side- or top-hung. This design allows easy access to outer windows or doors.

This type of window is popular in hospitals, surgery rooms, and laboratories because it has minimal dust ledges, tight seals, and is easy to clean.

Was looking for somewhere quieter to eat our lunch and found this place on Google. Very nice park and somewhere to visit to get away from the crowds in the shops and street! Sat on the grass and had a picnic and was such a nice atmosphere here. The people next to us had a speaker and were playing Bob marley songs and dogs were running around.

A lovely & highly unusual fusion of a peaceful yet lively oasis in busy central London is the best way of describing this square. Peaceful because you can sit on a bench and relax, lively because of the number of visitors also enjoying the facilities such as outdoor table tennis and children's play areas. The two actually coexist quite well - well worth a visit!

Attractive square 5 mins from Regent St & Piccadilly Circus. Tree cover, well turned flower beds, lots of benches. Ideal spot to enjoy a take away meal or just a sit down.

A nice tiny square where you can play table-tennis, and relax during lunchtime either by sitting on the benches provided, or sitting on the well kept grass. Clean and tidy. Only 5 mins from Piccadilly Circus.

Peaceful, tranquil safe haven open space and refuge from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding businesses. It is clear to see that care is taken to maintain and keep this place clean. Appreciated that the attendant respectfully let us know it would be closing and patiently waited for us to finish our drinks, without any fuss.

The dairy stall here traded all through the pandemic looking after their customers and supplying top quality milk, cheese and fresh coffee at good prices - including fantastic fresh, restaurant-quality butter for £1.50 - which is cheaper than what supermarkets charge for ordinary butter.

One of my favourite quiet places to visit in central London. This was the brilliant Danny La Rue's local church when he was growing up...once he found fame & fortune he paid for various marble statues in this beautiful church...he's buried in St Mary's Cemetary, Kensal Green...

Great spot for all creative people. Based in heart of Soho, on a narrow street right next to Oxford Street and Marks and Spencer. Somehow quiet and hidden away from all hustle and bustle of the city, so if you're looking for quality coffee and a bit of silence, it's perfect place to go. They also have little shop downstairs and exhibition gallery upstairs, so you can just pop in to see the artworks or buy some books, postcards etc. Industry professionals come over there and place is intimate and cosy, so you can easily spot some famous photographers there. Also it's great for people watching, if that's ones thing, cause lots of interesting individuals cross its doors.

Great place to hang out. Has a cafe with reasonably good coffee depending on who is serving. Gallery entry is free before 12 am I believe. Don't eat the food though!

Oct. 2019. It is difficult to find this place and the quality of photography exhibited was sorely lacking. I would say in all honesty and seriousness that most YouTube photographers produce better quality than what I saw here. As a photographer looking to promote the art of photography, it's a shame to see this. I intend to return soon to reevaluate and to hopefully improve my ratings for this gallery.

Cute, well curated boutique of all things from the Harry Potter universe made by MinaLima. The ground floor is home to books, stationery, t-shirts, posters, enamel pins & more. Both floors are impeccably themed and styled. There are many genuine props from the HP films dotted around in cabinets too! The lower ground is home to the print gallery, where you can purchase limited edition prints of artwork created by MinaLima for the Harry Potter films. A must visit shop for Harry Potter fans.

We visited on Sunday before bank Holiday, staff are really friendly and ever so helpful. We booked through a third party company called Picnic which was a lot cheaper then booking direct, with no issues at all. What a fantastic experience, if you have watched the show then you will know, if you haven’t then watch it… The taskmaster we had was brilliant, he was very knowledgeable about the whole aspect of it. It was really surreal as it is so identical to the actual show, the games where great and difficult especially the skill games. The maze… what a great ending to a fantastic experience, it was so much fun and something you will never forget..

Would thoroughly recommend this. The whole set up was fantastic and you really feel like you are in the tv show. The tasks are varied with different degrees of difficulty. Our Games Master, Hans, was funny, entertaining and helpful and made our experience all the better. Every member of staff was friendly and welcoming. The whole group had a great time and something we will remember for a long time.

This was by far one of the best things we have done in years! The whole experience is incredible! The staff are amazing and so friendly. The experience has been very cleverly thought out. The different themes zones are decorated so well with the games you play in them, themed to match. Think agility, skill, logic as you beat the games and timer to win crystals. Our host stayed in amazing character throughout as you run/crawl/climb between zones. Finish up in the crystal dome catching and collecting tickets and get a team picture before you get your final score. We absolutely want to go again as there's quite a few games in each zone (you don't get to do them all, we did around 10/12 across all zones in our game). Thank you for an incredible experience!
