Secondary Glazing FAQ’s

Does Secondary Glazing actually work?

Secondary glazing is an excellent, cost effective way of reducing the amount of external noise entering your home through your current windows. This simple and cost-effective treatment can increase sound insulation. This means your home will be quieter and you will sleep more peacefully. In other words, yes, it does work! Secondary glazing is also extremely effective for thermal retention and draught exclusion.

Does Secondary Glazing add value to my house?

Secondary glazing can greatly increase your home's value. If your home is older and not performing well, it may be worth considering investing in new glazing options. This will increase its appeal to potential buyers as well as allow it to sell at a higher price. Selling a property that is quiet and warm adds to the appeal.

If my Secondary Glazing breaks, who can fix it?

The Glazier who installed your secondary glazing should have a well-documented warranty on their work. Meaning they should be able to fix it for you. We here at City Sound proud ourselves on our craftmanship as well as the quality of our products, if any problems arise, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Secondary Glazing for Listed Buildings Marylebone

A building listed under the law is protected and Listed Building Permission may need to be obtained before any modifications can be made. Not all repairs will require consent. Please get in touch with your local authority and make enquiries as to whether you need permission to install secondary glazing.

Sash Windows (Vertical sliding) Marylebone

Sash windows, also known as “Vertical sliding windows”, are the most popular window type. Secondary glazing sash windows are also very popular.

Our sash windows consist of two panels, one at the top and one at the bottom. They are counter balanced with pre-tensioned springs that hold the panels’ weight. The window can be opened in any direction and the panels can be operated easily.

Horizontal Sliding Windows Marylebone

Horizontal sliding windows, which can be made side to side, are the most versatile style. They can be manufactured with either 2, 3, or 4 sliding panels. This type of secondary glazing matches perfectly with Crittal windows. Individual sliding panels can slide effortlessly, providing unimpeded access to external windows.

All of our windows sections are made from aluminium and powder-coated white. You can customize frames to match your decor with a different colour or finish.

Fixed Lift Out Marylebone

Fixed lift out windows are an alternative to screw-fixed units. They have a removable glass panel that can be lifted from the master frame and accessed through the external windows.

This type of window is used for external windows that are rarely used, or in offices with air conditioning where cleaning between windows is necessary.

Casement (Hinged) Secondary Glazing Marylebone

Our hinged (casement) windows can be side- or top-hung. This design allows easy access to outer windows or doors.

This type of window is popular in hospitals, surgery rooms, and laboratories because it has minimal dust ledges, tight seals, and is easy to clean.

Interesting collection, relaxing cafe-though menu limited on the “left” side, spend a little extra for wider menu on full service side... 9/26/21 Update: no need for advance timed tickets, a few galleries closed for renovations but staff and cafe still wonderfully delightful and pleasant way to spend a few hours only a short walk from the craziness of Oxford street. Oh yeah cafe has very limited (but good choices before 11:45)

Great place to see a large collection of art ranging from paintings to porcelain and fine furniture, it is a vast collection but the space is small enough to see most of it in one visit so it's more manageable. It is also not as busy as the national gallery for example so you can actually spend more time in peace and quiet to just appreciate the art. The cafe is also very nice and serves good food.

Only 4 stars as there's refurbishing work currently happening so I didn't get to see the Louis XIV pistols that I wanted to drool over. I will go back after Christmas and imagine that the work will be done and they'll be on show However, the rest of the collection covering art, sculpture, arms, glass, ceramics, furniture is absolutely stunning. Worth a visit! Busier than I thought it would be

I found this to be a rather Grimm looking square and rather unpleasant. . Not very clean. And shoddy looking. The garden în the square is private and no access to public. Not very interesting at all. Only good thing about it is it has an art gallery, and is very close to the world famous shopping Street called Oxford Street.

What a lovely church in the heart of London. Buildings works going on but still worth a visit both during and outside of services. Looking forward to seeing it once all the major works are done. Come and visit

A rare example of a Regency style church with a friendly worshiping community and superb music. Connections with Charles Wesley the prolific hymn writer, who is buried nearby.

The underbelly festival bought drink and food outlets to this charming, spacious square. Really relaxing to sit down and have some lunch on a balmy autumn day. Tex Mex outlet especially recommended.

It's a great place to sit and relax. There are lots of tables and covered areas to sit and have either your own food or from the food stalls on the site. I haven't tried any myself but there are steak burgers and fish available daily from 12pm. There are lots of toilets on site, only open after 12 though. There are live shows at set times of the day too.

Wee hidden gem minutes away from Oxford Circus. Circular, cosy, well separated from streets around. Good for a stretch of legs and lunch. When I saw it, it was well furnished with picnic benches and pop-up food/drink bars - possibly due to it's being occupied by the Underbelly Festival (summer '21)

Beautiful church. A great place for a spiritual retreat from the hubbub of the West End. Many masses including Latin and sung mass. Worth a journey. Hi on
