Secondary Glazing FAQ’s

Does Secondary Glazing actually work?

Secondary glazing is an excellent, cost effective way of reducing the amount of external noise entering your home through your current windows. This simple and cost-effective treatment can increase sound insulation. This means your home will be quieter and you will sleep more peacefully. In other words, yes, it does work! Secondary glazing is also extremely effective for thermal retention and draught exclusion.

Does Secondary Glazing add value to my house?

Secondary glazing can greatly increase your home's value. If your home is older and not performing well, it may be worth considering investing in new glazing options. This will increase its appeal to potential buyers as well as allow it to sell at a higher price. Selling a property that is quiet and warm adds to the appeal.

If my Secondary Glazing breaks, who can fix it?

The Glazier who installed your secondary glazing should have a well-documented warranty on their work. Meaning they should be able to fix it for you. We here at City Sound proud ourselves on our craftmanship as well as the quality of our products, if any problems arise, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Secondary Glazing for Listed Buildings Earls Court

A building listed under the law is protected and Listed Building Permission may need to be obtained before any modifications can be made. Not all repairs will require consent. Please get in touch with your local authority and make enquiries as to whether you need permission to install secondary glazing.

Sash Windows (Vertical sliding) Earls Court

Sash windows, also known as “Vertical sliding windows”, are the most popular window type. Secondary glazing sash windows are also very popular.

Our sash windows consist of two panels, one at the top and one at the bottom. They are counter balanced with pre-tensioned springs that hold the panels’ weight. The window can be opened in any direction and the panels can be operated easily.

Horizontal Sliding Windows Earls Court

Horizontal sliding windows, which can be made side to side, are the most versatile style. They can be manufactured with either 2, 3, or 4 sliding panels. This type of secondary glazing matches perfectly with Crittal windows. Individual sliding panels can slide effortlessly, providing unimpeded access to external windows.

All of our windows sections are made from aluminium and powder-coated white. You can customize frames to match your decor with a different colour or finish.

Fixed Lift Out Earls Court

Fixed lift out windows are an alternative to screw-fixed units. They have a removable glass panel that can be lifted from the master frame and accessed through the external windows.

This type of window is used for external windows that are rarely used, or in offices with air conditioning where cleaning between windows is necessary.

Casement (Hinged) Secondary Glazing Earls Court

Our hinged (casement) windows can be side- or top-hung. This design allows easy access to outer windows or doors.

This type of window is popular in hospitals, surgery rooms, and laboratories because it has minimal dust ledges, tight seals, and is easy to clean.

I recently held my daughter’s first birthday party here and the hall itself is very beautiful and pleasant. They require a £250 deposit to secure a date and then its £70 an hour for the hire. I initially booked the venue for 5 hours (3pm to 8pm) for a Saturday afternoon/evening. I had paid the deposit well in advance, as i wanted to secure the date. £250 is allot of money and when one pays this amount they are serious about hiring! The day before the event i called the venue and wanted to confirm that i was going to pay for the 5 hours hire, to which the staff member replied that they had cancelled the event as i did not pay them earlier and claimed that they tried to contact me and i avoided them. Having invited approximately 100 people to the event already, i was completely in shock and worry about the venue cancelling the event. I completely understand that they had a system where they require all payments in full before the actual event, having paid the deposit of £250, and making the payment a day before for the hourly rate, i was doing exactly that. The manager told me that he had cancelled the care taker and another member of staff who were due to come in on the day of the event. In all honesty i had to beg and cry to the operations manager to allow me to carry on with the event! After begging and literally crying over the phone the staff member eventually decided to show me some mercy and make small efforts to get the event back on. He called me back after 6 minutes and told me that he had found someone that could be available to work on the day. However i had to start the event from 2pm and finish at 7pm now. I had no option but to agree, and in result this too also put me in a bad position, as i now had to notify all my guests for the time change. The event eventually happened, but during the whole event the caretaker kept popping up and reminding me about the time and how everything needs to be finished by 7pm. It was a constant nuisance and i just dealt with it throughout the entire event. To sum up everything, the staff did not hesitate to really show lack of compassion, understanding, support or even decency to give comfort to a father who just wanted to celebrate his daughter’s birthday at their venue. I had to beg them. They made me feel quite low and scared, and if i had not shown this emotion, they would have definitely cancelled! This venue needs new staff that have some decent customer service skills and compassion towards people. I didn’t take my deposit back and let the staff keep it, as tbh, I didn’t want the caretaker to screw me over in the actual event! Do not hold personal events here! Staff are average!

The Project Rooms building has been beautifully refurbished, with great interior decoration too. A shame it's temporary. Inside you'll find an awesome model of London showing the Earls Court development in context. There's also a hyperlapse on a huge screen of the Earls Court Exhibition Centre being deconstructed. There's a fair bit of info but seems more marketing oriented rather than an in depth look at the changes. If you're really interested in what's going on, best to pop by on the second Saturday of the month.

We stayed in Earls Court for 10 days in September 21 and came back to the Blackbird several times. A great pub made special by fantastic staff. A warm welcome every time we visited, good selection of beers all well kept and equally good choice of wine. Food was well presented good pub fare. Hope to visit again next time we are in London.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights stay at The Blackbird. A great pub atmosphere, clean and friendly staff. The breakfast was amazing with fast and efficient service. The only reason for 4 stars is simply because of the room being a tad small, the noise from the road and thin walls meant we heard every bang from room above. Otherwise a wonderful place to stay in the heart of the London action with everything nearby!

Everything about this pub is excellent. The staff are very friendly, the breakfast was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble for them. Considering you are sleeping above a busy pub and on quite a busy road there was no noise whatsoever. We were sad when our two days came to an end and would definitely stay again. Walking distance of Earls Court Station and so easy to get about. Nothing more to say!!

Good location re transport into central London and a lovely garden which sadly we couldn't use due to weather (stayed 3 days, September - October 2021). Very friendly and efficient reception staff who sorted maintenance issues with our room very quickly. Reasonable breakfast selection, excellent service, superb coffee. Our room 110 had a strange E shaped format with a wall that straddled half the width of the room between bed and working area. This made moving round the room difficult at first - don't know if all Garden view rooms are the same. Apart from that, the room was comfortable, good-sized en-suite and mini fridge. We left a small item in the room which reception kindly agreed to post to us, so overall a very good experience and we would certainly stay here again.

This hotel was pretty good. We stayed for 5 nights. Room was clean and comfortable and spacious. It was also just two blocks from the Earl's Court Underground. I wish however they had more than one blanket in the room. It was pretty cold at night, and I couldn't get the heat on. We had to request a cleaning after day 4 and some new toilet roll. That was the only time it was serviced. Breakfast was just ok. It was diverse but pretty unhealthy options (but maybe this is a British thing??). Backyard was lovely. I would have enjoyed it if it wasn't raining all the time, but that's London for you. Front desk was very nice.

This was a wonderful place to stay, most importantly the breakfast begins at 7:30 AM so when you're recovering from jetlag you can get your fix early in the morning. The garden available to you out the back is a delight to sit in. Reminds one of a sculpture garden. A veritable urban oasis. I recommend you make sure to be here for the most important meal of the day. The beds in our two twin room were suitable for this sort of hotel. I was satisfied with the room and the bathroom's fittings. We were not spending significant time in the room, but it was cozy and I don't have any complaints. Service was especially notable. They were attentive to our needs, collected dinner that we ordered for delivery and prepared plates for our dinner. They provide a real white glove treatment. That's what makes this place stand out. Those working behind the desk had a sunny disposition and a smile from ear to ear.

Really cool venue that does live music and sometimes pop-ups outside selling oysters. Went in here with a friend and we ordered some cocktails and snacks. The friendly waiter recommended Singapore sling. I ordered that and can guarantee it's AMAZING. Also followed that up with an espresso martini which was very nice. Not too sweet and overly decadent. Ordered some sweet potato fries which were nice. Warm and well cooked. Really nice visiting at least once for a good London pub experience and cocktails, especially the Singapore sling.

Well, a bit of a a gem really. Looks a bit tired on the outside, but was actually fantastic. We sat in the "secret garden" at the rear, which was lovely. The service was great, food quite tasty and the cocktails yummy, good value and selection. On top of that, a great price of 20 century pop culture history.

Great ambience at The Troubadour and amazing to hear live music again after so long, with the audience singing along too. Lots of interesting displays about the history of The Troubadour and some of the many famous artists and bands who have played there in the early days of their careers in the music industry. The staff worked hard with table service drinks and we enjoyed chatting with other customers.

First of all only 1 towel in the room and there is no receptionist in the afternoon evening whatever to ask as the morning receptionist forgot to give the towel. When checked out realised forgot the charger but we already left to Manchester. So called the hotel to see if he could do anything but he was not helpful at all as answer he said I am not going to the postoffice for £2’charger we dont do that. I mean how do you know its a £2 pound charger. If it ws £2 pound would have bought a new one. Not helpful at all will never come back. Also he just disconnected the call while I was talking. There are many other hotels on the same road I would say try rather a another hotel. I never complain but this man was so not helpful and said I keep the charger come whenever you want or buy a new one. I mean would never even walk past the hotel Byeeeeee.

Pros: Convenient location near the entrance to Earls Court station. Friendly staff. Room was plenty warm enough, which you want at this time of year. Allowed us to check in early. Cons: Shower not the hottest. Breakfast is basic. Overall the hotel suited our needs, we weren't there much as we wanted to be out exploring London most of the day. We just needed a place to change, keep our stuff safe and rest at the end of the day. It did this, and for a reasonable price.
