Secondary Glazing FAQ’s

Does Secondary Glazing actually work?

Secondary glazing is an excellent, cost effective way of reducing the amount of external noise entering your home through your current windows. This simple and cost-effective treatment can increase sound insulation. This means your home will be quieter and you will sleep more peacefully. In other words, yes, it does work! Secondary glazing is also extremely effective for thermal retention and draught exclusion.

Does Secondary Glazing add value to my house?

Secondary glazing can greatly increase your home's value. If your home is older and not performing well, it may be worth considering investing in new glazing options. This will increase its appeal to potential buyers as well as allow it to sell at a higher price. Selling a property that is quiet and warm adds to the appeal.

If my Secondary Glazing breaks, who can fix it?

The Glazier who installed your secondary glazing should have a well-documented warranty on their work. Meaning they should be able to fix it for you. We here at City Sound proud ourselves on our craftmanship as well as the quality of our products, if any problems arise, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Secondary Glazing for Listed Buildings Covent Garden

A building listed under the law is protected and Listed Building Permission may need to be obtained before any modifications can be made. Not all repairs will require consent. Please get in touch with your local authority and make enquiries as to whether you need permission to install secondary glazing.

Sash Windows (Vertical sliding) Covent Garden

Sash windows, also known as “Vertical sliding windows”, are the most popular window type. Secondary glazing sash windows are also very popular.

Our sash windows consist of two panels, one at the top and one at the bottom. They are counter balanced with pre-tensioned springs that hold the panels’ weight. The window can be opened in any direction and the panels can be operated easily.

Horizontal Sliding Windows Covent Garden

Horizontal sliding windows, which can be made side to side, are the most versatile style. They can be manufactured with either 2, 3, or 4 sliding panels. This type of secondary glazing matches perfectly with Crittal windows. Individual sliding panels can slide effortlessly, providing unimpeded access to external windows.

All of our windows sections are made from aluminium and powder-coated white. You can customize frames to match your decor with a different colour or finish.

Fixed Lift Out Covent Garden

Fixed lift out windows are an alternative to screw-fixed units. They have a removable glass panel that can be lifted from the master frame and accessed through the external windows.

This type of window is used for external windows that are rarely used, or in offices with air conditioning where cleaning between windows is necessary.

Casement (Hinged) Secondary Glazing Covent Garden

Our hinged (casement) windows can be side- or top-hung. This design allows easy access to outer windows or doors.

This type of window is popular in hospitals, surgery rooms, and laboratories because it has minimal dust ledges, tight seals, and is easy to clean.

Wonderful area in London with so much going on. There's a fabulous market with some very unique stalls. Great street entertainers which make the area fun and interesting. There are also plenty of great bars and pubs and some awesome restaurants with amazing food. Definitely one of the best places to stay when in London.

This is more than a Shopping Mall or a Market, it is an Londoner experience. The place is beautiful and full of amazing spots, flowers everywhere and much to see. The area has much to offer, form cafes, restaurants, shopping places and music. We had a wonderful day going over the different points of the market and the surroundings. I very much recommend this place.

This place is so vibrant and has really changed over the years with lots more eating options around the piazza. The indoor market on the south side has lots of quality wares and there are loads of stalls on the surrounding pavements. Love the street entertainment and found the best spot to watch.,. The balcony of the Punch a Judy pub.,. The beers were new to me but the barman gave me a taster to help me make my choice.

Trafalgar Square is a public square in central London. The site is a significant landmark. The Square's name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar. The Nelson's Column, Lion Sculptures and Fountains are the most popular attractions at the square. The square is a place for community gatherings and political demonstrations. It’s a place of relaxed atmosphere in the late afternoon.

Ah, the iconic landmark; the pigeons and statues; the somewhat notorious fifth plinth. This is a place which truly illustrates the heart of London and England. With the modern street performers meeting the historic monuments, it's a sign of the times and a glimpse into a microcosm of modernity.

Beautiful square. It was pretty busy when we went due to construction and several protests, but we were able to still see the fountains and get a small bit of appreciation of it all. It’s quite a lovely part of the city, so you could spend a while here people watching.

Such a hidden gem, I’ve been to Covent Garden like 100 times but only discovered this lovely peaceful place lately. The cats are adorable (I let them play with my shoe laces :D). This is one of those places that make you feel grateful about life.

The main entrance to the "Actors" church is to the rear along an alleyway. The visible façade is bricked in and provides the backdrop for the many street entertainers. Such a unique place in London History.

Visited for a wedding. The church is small and intimate with great designs. The gardens were so quiet it was hard to believe we were in the middle of Covent garden .The vicar is one of the best. The choir was excellent. Overall lovely place to get married.

Covent Garden is London’s one of the central landmarks and is definitely a must-visit place even during a very short travel. It is a colourful medley of all various travellers, visitors and tourists as well as locals, with many tiny shops and traders around the piazza. There are nice colourful coffee shops around it. Very central location also makes it a perfect dating place or just a place for a random meeting with friends for a drink or two or a Friday night out. Covent Garden Piazza is one of those places that give its uniqueness to London.

I think a lot of the unique vibe has been lost due to covid. I remember this place as a child being filled with buskers and statue people, mimes etc and I was very disappointed to see that not to be the case this time around.

Majestic venue, living up to its billing as one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. The spectacular, visually overwhelming staging of Mozart's The Magic Flute perfectly combined with the frankly inspired vocal performances to stir emotions and imagination alike. Bravo indeed!

Incredible venue - amazing performances and interesting memorabilia inside. Lots of costumes, posters etc from past performances. Be aware though - the upper seats are very, very high up there. Fine for an opera, but if you're going for something you want to see the stage, pick something closer.

Amazing museum! I love the Tube and so I was very interested in the history of it. The displays are very good and has amazing facts. They have a train simulator on the ground floor, but it takes a long time to do, so the queue can be quite big. Would recommend. Also the shop is great, where you can by pillows with the seat cover patterns and other souvenirs.

Fun place to go for both adults and children. The museum's collection on the transport system is fascinating, lots of interesting facts to read. There are also themed play areas for the little ones. My 20 months old son had a great time exploring. You can bring your own food and sit in the dedicated areas to have lunch inside - very handy for those who have children! It is also clean inside, you can see the staff regularly wiping the surfaces. If you are looking for a day out especially with kids, I certainly recommend the London Transport Museum.

Amazing place. Had fun exploring the museum. Hygienic and polite staff. My lil one had great time. He loved the idea of driving his bus..A must visit place to learn about more than a century old transportation. You won't be disappointed. 1 less star for the food. Not that great.

Very cool market but surprised by the lack of local artist. There is more Chinese stuff then locally made. My wife likes hand made ornaments and commercial produced was more common. This goes for everything else also

We sat in balcony seats A34 and A35. You could see almost all of the stage and were great value for money. I'm 6ft 2 and my legs were fine. I was next to the aisle so I could swing my legs out of I needed. Seat was also surprisingly soft. If you were small or a child, you may struggle to see over the safety rail although they did offer booster seats for this show. Balcony seats are steeped so go steady. If you're not sure of heights or have poor mobility, you'd struggle in some areas. Staff were all helpful and signage was good throughout. Exiting was easy through a fire exit at the end. A lot better overall than some of the result old London theatres.

My family and I of six. Went to watch frozen the musical. It was my daughters birthday and surprised her. We loved the spectacular show of all the cast of frozen. The staff at this theatre are extremely helpful and above all made our evening comfortable. Shall definitely come again. Well done to everyone.

Don't judge me here....I am not a big musical fan but took my daughters to see this in a group of six. It was clean quick to get through queues and to our seats. The show was good and Anna was brilliant. It was a slick show but didn't amaze me. The kids loved it. The only issue was the kids behind constantly kicked the chair and put their feet up on the back. Parents didn't do anything and I was too mad to tell them off and ended up moving to some empty seats in front. The kids were old enough to know better and am sure they were with grandparents who clearly had lost their own manners. Come on parents don't let your kids ruin it for others, of course they are kids but keep them bloody still or teach them not to put their feet on the chairs. It has put me off any shows with kids in future. Promise I am not a miserable git really.

He kept us laughing throughout the whole tour and gave us a ton of great recommendations for places to go after the tour was done. This was my first walking tour like this and it definitely won't be my last. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting London!
