Secondary Glazing FAQ’s

Does Secondary Glazing actually work?

Secondary glazing is an excellent, cost effective way of reducing the amount of external noise entering your home through your current windows. This simple and cost-effective treatment can increase sound insulation. This means your home will be quieter and you will sleep more peacefully. In other words, yes, it does work! Secondary glazing is also extremely effective for thermal retention and draught exclusion.

Does Secondary Glazing add value to my house?

Secondary glazing can greatly increase your home's value. If your home is older and not performing well, it may be worth considering investing in new glazing options. This will increase its appeal to potential buyers as well as allow it to sell at a higher price. Selling a property that is quiet and warm adds to the appeal.

If my Secondary Glazing breaks, who can fix it?

The Glazier who installed your secondary glazing should have a well-documented warranty on their work. Meaning they should be able to fix it for you. We here at City Sound proud ourselves on our craftmanship as well as the quality of our products, if any problems arise, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Secondary Glazing for Listed Buildings Bankside

A building listed under the law is protected and Listed Building Permission may need to be obtained before any modifications can be made. Not all repairs will require consent. Please get in touch with your local authority and make enquiries as to whether you need permission to install secondary glazing.

Sash Windows (Vertical sliding) Bankside

Sash windows, also known as “Vertical sliding windows”, are the most popular window type. Secondary glazing sash windows are also very popular.

Our sash windows consist of two panels, one at the top and one at the bottom. They are counter balanced with pre-tensioned springs that hold the panels’ weight. The window can be opened in any direction and the panels can be operated easily.

Horizontal Sliding Windows Bankside

Horizontal sliding windows, which can be made side to side, are the most versatile style. They can be manufactured with either 2, 3, or 4 sliding panels. This type of secondary glazing matches perfectly with Crittal windows. Individual sliding panels can slide effortlessly, providing unimpeded access to external windows.

All of our windows sections are made from aluminium and powder-coated white. You can customize frames to match your decor with a different colour or finish.

Fixed Lift Out Bankside

Fixed lift out windows are an alternative to screw-fixed units. They have a removable glass panel that can be lifted from the master frame and accessed through the external windows.

This type of window is used for external windows that are rarely used, or in offices with air conditioning where cleaning between windows is necessary.

Casement (Hinged) Secondary Glazing Bankside

Our hinged (casement) windows can be side- or top-hung. This design allows easy access to outer windows or doors.

This type of window is popular in hospitals, surgery rooms, and laboratories because it has minimal dust ledges, tight seals, and is easy to clean.

lovely place! the artworks are genuinely amazing and awe-inspiring. entry is free and if you book before hand, there is barely any wait. it is simply picturesque. it is near to London bridge station, so the journey is easy. just outside it is a river, a park and beautiful bridges and buildings. there are also many food places nearby so it is perfect for a day out

Absolutely epic art museum. The permanent and visiting collections are beautiful and thought-provoking. However the building itself I arguably a greater work of art than any one piece within! Climbing the levels and looking out into the monolithic foyer--watching other people do the same-- is a memorable experience. Plus the permanent collection is free! Just make sure you reserve tickets online before you shoe up

Some fantastic displays with interesting and important stories. Took us about an hour to go around a single floor. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was very busy but manageable. Borough Market is nearby so would recommend combining your visit with a spot of lunch there.

Absolutely not worth it. Food is so average, no care in it at all. We had a half price card but even paying half seemed bad value. Its probably a good place for meetings if you work nearby, but for pleasure just dont go. Staff are really lovely but food absolutely needs a refresh.

Twelfth Night, Brilliant! I loved it! Actors were phenomenal! Just so happened to meet one of the actors after the play... Rachel and she was lovely... kindly autographed my newly purchased Twelfth Night book! Members of staff really welcoming and helpful... from the booking office, information desk, memorabilia shop and stewards. Looking forward to my next visit!

£5 to stand in "the pit", absolute bargain! Every member of the cast was excellent. We went for the Audience Choice on a Saturday afternoon. You're given three choices of play and the one that gets the biggest cheer from the audience is the one they perform. Great way to introduce our children (9 and 11) to Shakespeare as it makes it fun for them. Also, being the Globe it has a certain gravitas over a standard theatre.

I went to go watch a reenactment of machete and it's fair to say I was quite impressed, all the actors were able to play their part quite well and the staff were very professional. We stood for the whole performance and it wasn't too bad although it was long the performance was interesting enough to keep everyone engaged the view from the floor was also quite clear and was not obstructed at all 10/10 experience would definitely recommend but if you can't stand long or your back starts to ache after a while of standing I recommend booking a seated ticket just for better comfort and the view would be better as well.
